You can be at the Meyer Werft shipyard within 40 minutes by car.
It is one of the largest and most modern shipyards in the world. Cruise ships and ocean ferries are built here.
You can visit the shipyard. Maybe you're lucky and one of the huge cruise ships is being transferred.
The impressive ships are sent on their "long voyage" across the Ems past Emden.
Occasionally, the interiors of the large cruise ships are completed in Emden. Then you can easily reach the fitting-out quay in the harbour on foot from Heerens Hotel in Emden.
The "Aida Blu", for example, is measured at 71,300 GT. It is 252 metres long, 32.2 metres wide and has a draught of 7.3 metres. The engines have an output of
25,000 kilowatts (34,000 hp) and ensure a top speed of 22 knots (40.7 kilometres per hour).
The ship offers space for almost 2200 passengers in almost 1100 cabins. The "Aida Blu" has a large wellness area, many leisure facilities and is the first passenger ship with its own brewery on board.
